Sue Ryder Care – Nettlebed Hospice is delighted to announce the return of its popular Women of Achievement Awards and is encouraging people to nominate unsung heroines from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
Launched in 2007, the annual Awards recognise and celebrate successful women who have excelled in life or business, with all money raised going directly to help Sue Ryder Care – Nettlebed Hospice continue to deliver expert and compassionate care to people living with progressive, far-advanced life-limiting conditions such as Cancer. This year’s Awards, sponsored by Invesco Perpetual, promise to be bigger and better than ever.
People – or women themselves – can nominate friends, mothers and daughters that have excelled in any of the following four categories; Care/Community, Arts, Recreation and Education/ Enterprise. And, for the first time, a special Sue Ryder Care Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to an overall winner chosen from short listed nominees. Closing date for nominations is Monday, 20 October 2008.
A judging panel comprised of representatives from local businesses and a representative from Sue Ryder Care – Nettlebed Hospice will select a shortlist of four nominees per category and decide upon the overall winners. All short listed nominees will be invited to a glittering awards ceremony at the prestigious Phyllis Court Club in Henley on Thames on 20 November, where the winners will be announced.
Sarah Smith, Event Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Care – Nettlebed Hospice, said, “We’re thrilled to declare the nomination process for this year’s Women of Achievement Awards open. Last year’s Awards were fantastic and really showcased the many amazing women living in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, as well as raising a staggering £18,000 for Sue Ryder Care – Nettlebed Hospice.
“I’m confident the 2008 Awards will build on the success of last year’s Awards and I’d encourage everybody to look around and nominate that special somebody who really does go the extra mile. And, at this year’s Awards ceremony, for the first time, we will be presenting a Lifetime Achievement Award to an overall winner, which I’m sure is going to be very difficult to choose just one!”
