Take home a home and help Sue Ryder Care: new Swindon shop opening

25 September 2008

Swindon shoppers are being given the opportunity to take home a home today as leading healthcare charity, Sue Ryder Care opens its new dedicated Hickleton Dolls House shop in the Brunel Centre, raising vital funds to help the charity provide expert care across the UK.

The shop will be housed in the first floor unit of the current Sue Ryder Care shop in the Brunel Shopping Centre that has been empty for two years and has now been transformed into a boutique for the beautiful Dolls Houses and accessories in just one week!

Helen Reynolds, Business Manager for Sue Ryder Care explained:

“In the run up to Christmas we wanted to offer our customers a shopping experience with a difference.

“The unit above the current Sue Ryder Care has been empty for two years so when the opportunity came for us to dedicate a shop to Hickleton’s Dolls Houses I jumped at the challenge to get our first floor unit opened.

“The landlord has been great and agreed to let us use the space, carried out some maintenance work and, a week later we are ready to open.”

The Hickleton Dolls Houses and accessories are popular items at Sue Ryder Care shops across the UK, there is even a dedicated fan base, with a Hickleton Collectors Club which counts more than 5,000 keen collectors as members - and is believed to be the largest in the UK.

Shop manager, Sharon Miles added:

“We hope that the new shop will attract Hickleton collectors as well as giving many more shoppers the dolls house bug.

Everyone who shops at Sue Ryder Care, raises funds to help the charity to support the expert end of life and neurological care provided at 14 care centres across the UK.

And it couldn’t be easier to buy your happy home, as Sharon added:

“Houses are ready built and ready for local people to buy and take home, without the mortgage.”
