Sue Ryder Care seeks business brains

Jorvic Viking Centre has taken on the business brain challenge17 October 2008

Did you sit and watch “The Apprentice” with your head in your hands cringing, thinking you could do so much better?

Well now’s your chance!  Sue Ryder Care is running a Business Brains Challenge – for local business people to prove their business acumen.  The challenge, which runs from 1 November to 28 February, involves giving away a crisp £50 note to local business leaders and company teams and setting them a unique challenge.

Jackie Sedgwick, Fundraiser for Sue Ryder Care says “This region is known as a hive of entrepreneurial activity, and Business Brains will create healthy competition while raising valuable funds for our specialist neurological and hospice care.”

“Our challenge to you is to take the money and, over a four month period, prove just how good an entrepreneur you are.  We are not telling anyone what to do with the money, we just want you to think of an ingenious way to make it grow and give it back to the charity with substantial interest.  At the end of the challenge period we will name the Sue Ryder Care North and East Yorkshire Charity Entrepreneur of the Year amongst other awards for imaginative ideas and promoting the work of the charity.”

By taking part in this event you will help Sue Ryder Care to help more people who need expert care for conditions such as Huntington’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Brain Injury and cancer.

To help teams out, competitors will be entitled to consultation sessions with a member of the North and East Yorkshire Fundraising team, based in York, to help with fundraising ideas, attend events or help with staff briefings.  They will also be given a fundraising pack to help get their creative juices flowing.

There’s still time for the region’s Business Brains to get involved: contact Jackie Sedgwick, Fundraiser by calling 01904 426920 or e-mail york@suerydercare.org
