Its multidisciplinary teams provide home-based care in Tirana and Durres and residential care at the 10-bed hospice in Tirana (the only hospice in this country of 3.5 million people). Medical, psychological and social care is provided free of charge to over 2,500 individuals and their families every year.
Ryder Albania also publishes learning materials, trains around 500 doctors, nurses, social workers and psychologists every year and plays a leading role in the Albanian National Association of Palliative Care which it helped to establish.
Albania is one of the poorest countries in Europe. 40% of the population have no access to basic services such as education, water, sanitation and heating.
Ryder Albania is entirely dependent on charitable funds. This year Sue Ryder Care will need to raise £95,000 to support its work. We urgently need your support.
